Martin Barthel is the Global Head of eCommerce & Retail Strategy at Facebook – responsible for developing category-specific strategies that benefit both pure-play and multi-channel retail businesses of all sizes around the world.
Prior to joining Facebook, Martin Barthel worked for more than 10 years for eBay. Most recently he was a member of the German management team, leading the eBay Consumer Electronics, Home & Garden and Motors businesses. Martin started his career working for the fashion brand Chanel as a strategic marketer from 1996 to 2001. Subsequent to this, he worked as a Management Consultant for the Boston Consulting Group for four years.
Martin Barthel studied economics at the EBS in Oestrich-Winkel and also at the ESCP-EAP in Paris, Oxford and Berlin.
Vijay Talwar joined Sears Holdings Corporation in April 2014 as SVP and President of Gifts and Special Occasions. Vijay has served as CEO, CFO and President across multiple industries, including development, retail, e-commerce, consumer products and management consulting. Vijay has applied contemporary business expertise in starting an international e-commerce business, leading global enterprises and turning around a multinational foundation in a developing economy. Vijay continues to address complex industry and market demands in an ever-evolving global business climate.
Vijay has served as the CEO, CFO and President of International and Global Customer Care at Blue Nile, as well as the CEO of William J. Clinton Foundation India, from 2008 to 2010, a global 501c nongovernmental organization established to provide healthcare and sustainability programs across India and South Asia. From 2002 to 2008, Vijay worked at Nike, Inc, the world’s leading designer, marketer and distributor of authentic footwear, apparel, equipment and accessories, where he served as the Chief Operating Officer for the Central Europe, Middle East and Africa Region.
